Brighton show

On Friday night I made the mission down to Brighton on the train to put a few more pictures up in an open house event I'm doing there. There was thick snow on the tracks and fields on the way down, making loads of sparks as the train went over it. We had to wait at each station while they cleared the ice from the doors, as it was stopping them from closing properly. The next morning the snow was gone but it started to rain like crazy. So, not that many people made it to the show. It's on today and then the next weekend (11th and 12 December). Pop down for a chance to see my comic strips available as prints!

So, this is my competition entry to this year's Random House and Comica Graphic Short Story Competition. I was inspired by various jobs I've done over the years and also by some of the views and spaces at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Jiro Taniguchi part 2

This is another book by author/illustrator Jiro Taniguchi. This one features six short stories - three set against a backdrop of mountains and wilderness, one following the bond between an ageing whale and a marine biologist, the story of a young boy sent away to the seaside for the summer and a piece about an aspiring manga creator living in a strange old building. I'm pretty new to the world of manga and I'm really glad to have found this author. Good that he has some more works available in English! I'm hoping to check out The Times of Botchan next.

Here are two new drawings. The top one is about the feeling of being in a new town and looking out at the buildings and streets. The bottom is from walking around London late at night. I'm hoping to start a short narrative, with this view as the first image.

Bar Brawl

I was thinking this guy could be a character out of the film "The Last Detail", looking to pick a fight in a pool hall or bar something.

Fanfare/Ponent Mon/ Jiro Taniguchi

These are a couple of books I've read recently. The Quest for The Missing Girl is a kind of thriller/drama and The Walking Man is a collection of short stories folowing at a man's journeys around his hometown. Both have amazing artwork!! The publishers Fanfare/Ponent Mon look like they do loads of other interesting books.

THE CURRENT SHOW is a new online gallery featuring work by a range of artists from around the world. At the moment you can see images from Russia, Japan, Belgium, Italy and England (me). I have three of my colour drawings up there at the moment, and I'm hoping to add some more soon. All artwork is available to buy as signed, high quality, limited edition giclee prints. Please visit their site to see the whole range of pictures and read up about the artists involved.
